Contribution Overview

I designed and delivered the 2022 GFCR Action Report during a UN internship at UNCDF. The report communicates coral reef protection progress to funders, policymakers, and environmental partners worldwide. I handled the full visual direction independently, working remotely with teams in New York, Copenhagen, and Geneva across the two-month project.

My Role: Graphic Designer & Web Designer
  • Led visual design for the annual report from brief to final print-ready delivery

  • Designed infographics and data visualizations communicating fund performance and reef protection metrics

  • Produced supporting materials including slide decks, social graphics, and print collateral

  • Maintained the GFCR WordPress website: content updates, images, and page edits tied to the report release

  • Managed design assets in SharePoint and Trello, coordinating across an international distributed team

Outcome

The report was published as the official 2022 GFCR Action Report and used by UNCDF and GFCR stakeholders across international operations. The project was delivered independently on deadline, coordinated remotely across three continents.

The Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR), a UN-affiliated organization, needed a professionally designed 2022 Annual Report to showcase its progress in marine conservation, funding outcomes, and global partnerships.

Worked as a remote design intern for the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR), under the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF)

The 2022 Annual Report was a key communication piece to present GFCR’s progress, partnerships, and funding impact to global stakeholders

Based in New York, collaborated across time zones with the core communications team in Geneva, Switzerland

GFCR had an established brand system, but each year’s report required reinterpreting the structure and layout from scratch

I was responsible for translating a dense, information-rich document into a visually appealing, readable, and mission-aligned report that would resonate with global stakeholders—including policy makers, donors, and environmental experts.

Transform a large volume of policy-driven text and raw data into a visually coherent and brand-aligned annual report. Key content types included:

  • Multi-section narrative content (project overviews, partner stories, financials)

  • Charts, graphs, and data summaries

  • High-quality imagery from fieldwork and marine ecosystems

  • Designed exclusively for digital distribution (PDF) with optimized readability across screen sizes

Set up a streamlined review process to support asynchronous feedback from stakeholders across UN agencies, private sector partners, and country representatives

Built the full design system and report layout in Figma, enabling real-time, collaborative reviews across global time zones.

  • Clear navigation and visual anchors

  • Two-column grid for dense text

  • Embedded data visualizations and thematic photo breaks

The final report was published on GFCR’s official website and featured in the 2022 UN Annual Review.

The design received positive feedback for balancing form and function—elevating both the professionalism and emotional resonance of the content.
